Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny) | Pussycat Dolls |Get your Monday going

April 20, 2009

As I have said, Bollywood is going to be the new driving force in music development and influence over the next couple of years, and even though Pussycat Dolls pronounce it Jay-ho instead of the Jie-ho traditional pronunciation, it’s still an arresting video. It follows some of the similiar Indian syncopation, starting out with intrigue, building up to the crescendo of emotion, a little bit of sex appeal without the interaction of the opposite sex, the romantic background ballads to make you feel good, and the ever-ending love story of humble roots. I love it, even if I know the end before I hear it. The center of this piece does a good job of creating some dramatic tension. Wake-up Monday morning, and give yourself a little lift with this one. (Also check out my post about the child actors in Slumdog Millionaire–Educating the Minority.)
