I Cut Like A Buffalo: Rather Uninspiring

Okay, for Music Mondays, I didn’t pick this first, except it relates to my latests posts about the whole hijab bit and covering of women. Notice the artist remains uncovered, but the women do a rather strange introduction of a belly dance (originally designed as supportive demonstration for women laboring to birth a child, hence the undulations of the stomach muscles in mimicry of the contractions moving a woman’s abdomen), and the song just never fully matures. It sounds like some alternative stoned person wrote this in the full throes of a weed-induced prosaic repetitive score, as though the high were so good that the writer missed writing anything more than “I Cut Like A Buffalo” to the same riff. Underwhelming and chauvinistic to boot–how’s that for a Monday?
